Will it rain this weekend in Columbus, Georgia?
Columbus stays dry and warm through Friday, with rain chances near 48 percent Saturday and showers likely Sunday at about 57 percent.

The air over Columbus this afternoon is remarkably dry for late October. The dew point, which is the temperature air has to cool to before it starts making dew or fog, has dropped to around 40 degrees, and the relative humidity is down near 26 percent with the thermometer at 77. Walk the RiverWalk between Columbus and Phenix City right now and the sun feels warm while the shade feels cool. That is what dry air does: there is almost no moisture to hold the heat against your skin.
Two areas of high pressure are behind it, one anchored off the Northeast coast and one building over the Tennessee Valley. Forecasters at Peachtree City expect that setup to keep the Valley rain-free through Friday while nudging temperatures a few degrees above normal. Columbus should reach 81 on Thursday and 82 on Friday, against a normal high of 74 for this date. Look for extra clouds early Thursday as damper low-level air drifts in on a northeast breeze, then clearing through the afternoon.
On the Alabama side, the Birmingham office flagged a low to medium fire weather risk for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, with dry fuels and very little moisture in the air. Around Auburn, Opelika and Tuskegee, that is a good reason to be careful with anything burning outdoors.
The winds swing around to the south this weekend, and that changes everything. Saturday in Columbus climbs to 79 with a rain chance near 48 percent, most of it late in the day. Sunday tops out at 71 with showers likely, a 57 percent chance, and a thunderstorm is possible. How much falls is genuinely unsettled: the American model puts down 1.5 to 2.5 inches Sunday, while the European model keeps totals under half an inch. Peachtree City notes that dry ground should hold the flood threat down either way.
Columbus has already picked up 3.30 inches of rain this month, roughly nine tenths of an inch above normal for the date. If you have outside work waiting in LaGrange, Hamilton or Eufaula, Thursday and Friday are your days.
