A strong El Niño is now in place across the Pacific, which typically strengthens the jet stream across the southern United States. Historically, this pattern has meant a wetter and often cooler cold season for the Gulf South, with more storm systems crossing the region. The seasonal outlook for October through December shows a 40 percent probability of above-normal rainfall in our area.
