What is the Columbus GA forecast this week and when does rain return?
Columbus stays dry with highs from 78 today to 82 on Friday, and rain chances near 54 percent return on Saturday and Sunday.

The stretch of weather ahead of us is about as quiet as late October gets here. Columbus should reach 78 degrees today and again Wednesday, 80 on Thursday and 82 on Friday, with a rain chance of zero every one of those days. The normal high for this date at the Columbus Airport, where the official readings are taken, is 75, so the end of the week runs several degrees above where the calendar says it should be.
The reason is a strong dome of high pressure that has been sitting over East Tennessee. Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City expect it to drift northeast toward the Mid-Atlantic by Wednesday, which leaves us with a breeze out of the east and northeast for the rest of the week. That flow comes off the Atlantic and carries some moisture with it, but not nearly enough to squeeze out a shower. Mornings stay comfortable: a low of 46 tonight in Columbus, 55 Wednesday morning and 61 by Friday morning.
The one thing worth watching is fire danger on the Alabama side. The Weather Service office in Birmingham flagged a medium fire weather risk through the week, with dry fuels, limited moisture and slightly stronger winds. If you are burning yard debris around Opelika, LaFayette or Tuskegee this week, that is the reason to be careful. In Georgia, Peachtree City expects the easterly breeze to keep humidity above the level where fire danger turns critical.
None of this means the year has been dry. Through Monday evening Columbus had picked up 3.30 inches of rain this month against a normal of 2.34, and 43.60 inches since January 1 against a normal of 39.63.
The pattern changes this weekend. Saturday and Sunday both carry a 54 percent chance of rain, with highs of 82 and 80. If you have outdoor work that needs dry ground, the next four days are the window.
