What is the weekend weather for Lake Eufaula, West Point Lake and Lake Harding?
Saturday is the drier day on all three lakes, with Lake Harding near 60 at 8 AM and Lake Eufaula reaching 80 by 2 PM, while Sunday morning brings about a 50 percent chance of rain.

Saturday morning is the clear pick of the weekend on the water. At 8 AM on Lake Harding it should be 60 degrees with a 5 mph wind, a partly sunny sky and only a 5 percent chance of rain. Twenty-four hours later, standing on the same dock north of Columbus, you are looking at a 51 percent chance of showers. The difference between the two mornings is the whole story of this weekend.
On Lake Harding, Saturday afternoon warms to 75 by 2 PM with the wind picking up to 10 mph and a 25 percent chance of showers moving in. Sunday starts at 63 under those showers and recovers to 75 by 2 PM, with the wind easing back to 5 mph and a rain chance of 30 percent.
West Point Lake, up at LaGrange and West Point, has the coolest start of the three. Saturday at 8 AM it is 57 degrees and mostly cloudy with a 5 mph wind and a 6 percent rain chance, climbing to 73 by 2 PM with 10 mph wind and a 27 percent chance of showers. Sunday morning is the wettest forecast anywhere on the lakes, with 61 degrees at 8 AM and a 54 percent chance of rain, then 72 and a 31 percent chance by the middle of the afternoon.
Lake Eufaula is the warm one, as it usually is this time of year. Saturday begins at 62 degrees at 8 AM with a partly sunny sky and a 5 percent rain chance, and by 2 PM it is 80 degrees with a 10 mph wind and a 25 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Sunday morning opens at 67 with a 48 percent chance of showers and storms, and the afternoon runs 78 with light wind and a 33 percent chance of rain.
The wind is not the problem this weekend. Nothing on any of the three lakes gets above 10 mph on either day, well under the roughly 15 mph where a small boat starts taking a beating and spray comes over the bow. What you are planning around is rain, and the useful rule is simple: the earlier you go on Saturday and the later you go on Sunday, the better your odds.
It is worth knowing what the river feeding all of this has been doing. Over the seven days ending October 25, the Chattahoochee River below Lake Eufaula near Columbia, Alabama averaged 5,566 cubic feet per second against a normal of 4,534 for those dates. The Chattahoochee River in Columbus averaged 2,636 against a normal of 2,803, and at West Point 2,674 against 2,744. All of those sit comfortably inside the normal range for late October, which is to say the system is running about where it should be. Because the dams release in pulses to make power, a single reading can swing wildly in a day, so the week-long average is the number that means anything.
What to take: a light jacket for the 8 AM launch at West Point, where 57 degrees over open water feels cooler than it sounds, and a rain shell both days. Saturday afternoon on Eufaula at 80 degrees is short-sleeve weather, and Sunday you will want the hood.
Each day, 8 AM → 2 PM.
Forecast: National Weather Service, at each place. Wind and rain are the highest of the readings shown.
