Will it rain in Columbus GA this week?
Columbus, Georgia stays rain-free through Friday with highs climbing from 76 degrees today to 82 on Friday, and rain chances return Saturday and Sunday.

Walk out onto the Chattahoochee RiverWalk in Columbus this afternoon and the air itself is the story. The temperature is near 71 degrees with a dew point around 48, which keeps the humidity under half. Dew point is simply the temperature at which the air would have to cool before moisture starts condensing out of it, and a reading in the 40s is about as dry as late October gets here.
The National Weather Service office in Peachtree City says the valley stays rain-free through the end of the work week, with a broad dome of high pressure sitting over the Southeast. Columbus should reach 76 degrees today, 78 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 80 on Thursday and 82 on Friday. The normal high for today is 75 degrees, so this is a few degrees on the warm side rather than anything remarkable. For scale, the record high for October 26 in Columbus is 88 degrees, set in 2010, and nothing this week comes close to it.
The dryness has a practical edge west of the river. Forecasters in Birmingham have flagged a medium fire weather risk through this week across east Alabama, including Auburn, Opelika, Tuskegee and LaFayette, because fuels are dry, moisture is limited and winds are a touch stronger than usual. A wet year does not change that. Columbus has picked up 3.30 inches this month against a normal of 2.26, and more than 43 inches since January 1, roughly 4 inches ahead of normal, yet leaves and grass dry out within days under this kind of low humidity. Be deliberate with any outdoor burning.
The pattern finally loosens over the weekend. Saturday carries a 36 percent rain chance in Columbus and Sunday 42 percent, with highs near 82 and 81.
One more thing to notice on the drive home: the sun sets at 6:54 this evening, and we are losing close to two minutes of daylight every day.
