What is the Friday night high school football forecast for the Columbus and Auburn area?
Friday evening will be dry across the CNAW area, with kickoff temperatures near 75 in Columbus, 72 in Phenix City and Lanett, 70 in Auburn and Opelika, and a valley-low 68 in LaFayette and Clayton.

Find a seat in the bleachers anywhere in the valley Friday evening and the first thing you will notice is how little you need. Around 7 PM the air will be in the low 70s across most of the area, partly cloudy, with the wind barely moving the flags. Nobody in 19 counties has a rain chance on the board, and the warmest towns will still be in the 70s when the fourth quarter starts.
The whole viewing area fits inside a 7-degree spread at kickoff: 75 at the warm end, 68 at the cool end. That is a narrow night by late-October standards, and it means the difference between a short-sleeve game and a hoodie game comes down to which side of the Chattahoochee you are on.
Columbus is the warm end. Around Shaw, Hardaway, Columbus, Spencer, Kendrick, Jordan, Carver, Northside, Calvary Christian, Pacelli and Brookstone, expect 75 around kickoff and 69 by the fourth quarter, with the humidity near 53 percent and a 10 mph breeze — the briskest wind anywhere in the area, and the only place you might feel it in the upper rows. Across the river in Phenix City, Central sits at 72 falling to 67. Russell County in Seale goes 70 to 65.
The cool corners are in Alabama. Around LaFayette, where LaFayette and Chambers Academy play, it will be 68 around kickoff and 63 late. Valley and Beulah in Valley run 69 to 64, and Barbour County in Clayton goes 68 to 64 with humidity near 78 percent, which will make the evening feel damp rather than crisp. Eufaula is cooler than its Georgia neighbors at 70, easing to 65.
The Auburn-Opelika side stays comfortable. Auburn and Lee-Scott will be 70 at kickoff and 65 late; Beauregard and Opelika, 70 to 66; Loachapoka, 71 to 66; Notasulga, 71 to 67. Tuskegee is the stillest spot on the map — Booker T. Washington sits at 71 going to 67 with essentially calm air. Smiths Station and Glenwood hold 71 to 67, and Lanett and Springwood go 72 to 66.
North in Troup and Meriwether counties, LaGrange, Troup County and LaGrange Academy will be 71 at kickoff and 65 by the end. Callaway in Hogansville follows 71 to 64, Manchester 71 to 65, and Greenville takes the sharpest fall of the night, 70 down to 63 — a 7-degree slide from the first quarter to the last.
The Georgia towns south and east of Columbus stay warmest and clearest. Chattahoochee County in Cusseta and Marion County in Buena Vista both sit at 75 at kickoff and 69 late under mostly clear sky. Stewart County in Lumpkin, Randolph Clay in Cuthbert, Schley County in Ellaville, Taylor County in Butler, Webster County in Preston and Quitman County in Georgetown all run 74 to 68. Central-Talbotton goes 73 to 67, and Harris County in Hamilton, 72 to 67.
What to carry: nothing extra in Columbus, Cusseta, Buena Vista or Lumpkin. A light jacket or a hoodie for the second half in LaFayette, Clayton, Valley and Greenville, where the 60s arrive before the game ends. Leave the umbrella in the truck — every town on the list shows a zero rain chance.
Around kickoff → by the fourth quarter, on each school’s own clock.
No school or town by that name in the viewing area.
