Will it rain in Columbus GA this week?
Columbus, Georgia stays rain-free through Friday with highs climbing from 76 today to 82, and the first rain chance arrives Saturday at 27 percent.

The air over the Chattahoochee Valley this morning is about as dry as it gets here in late October. Columbus started the day near 57 degrees with a dew point of 48, and the gap between those two numbers is the whole story of the week. High pressure wedged down the eastern side of the Appalachians is feeding a steady northeast wind into west Georgia and east Alabama, and that wind is arriving with very little moisture in it.
That keeps us rain-free through Friday, and it warms us a little each day. Columbus should reach 76 this afternoon, 78 Tuesday and Wednesday, 80 Thursday and 82 on Friday. The normal high for today is 75, so Friday runs several degrees warm. It is nowhere near the record for October 26 at the Columbus airport, an 87 set in 1984, but afternoons in the low 80s from LaGrange to Eufaula are warmer than most people picture for the end of the month.
The National Weather Service office in Birmingham flagged the quieter risk in this stretch: with dry fuels on the ground, limited moisture and slightly stronger winds, they put the fire weather risk at medium through the week. The Peachtree City office is watching Tuesday in particular, when drier air filters over Georgia. If you are clearing brush around Hamilton, Manchester, Cuthbert or Lumpkin, this is a week to keep a hose within reach.
The dryness is not a dry year catching up with us. Columbus has recorded 43.64 inches of rain since January 1, more than four inches ahead of normal for the date, and October has brought about three and a quarter inches at the airport, roughly an inch above normal for the month so far.
The pattern loosens on Saturday, when Columbus carries a 27 percent chance of a shower with a high near 82. Until then, anything you set out in the yard this fall is on its own, because nothing between now and the weekend is going to water it for you.
