Will it rain this week in Columbus, Georgia?
No measurable rain is expected in Columbus or anywhere in the CNAW viewing area through Friday, with highs climbing from about 75 Sunday to 82 by Friday.

Walk out onto the Chattahoochee RiverWalk in Columbus this afternoon and the steady push of northeast wind is the first thing you will notice. That wind is the signature of the pattern that will carry the valley out of October, and the short version is easy to remember: no rain for a week.
Here is the part that may surprise you. October has already been a wet month in Columbus. The official gauge at the Columbus Airport has collected 3.30 inches this month against a normal of 2.18 inches for this point in October, better than an inch ahead. For the year, Columbus sits near 43.6 inches, roughly four inches above normal. Nearly all of that fell earlier in the month, and the rest of October now looks likely to pass without another measurable drop.
The reason is a dome of high pressure centered over the Mid-Atlantic that is pushing cool, dry air down the eastern seaboard, with a weak low spinning off the Georgia and Florida coast. The two together squeeze the pressure pattern over our area, and squeezed pressure means wind. Forecasters at Peachtree City expect the northeast breeze to ease overnight and pick back up Sunday, staying with us through the weekend.
Dry air and wind together raise the fire concern. The National Weather Service office in Birmingham has flagged a medium fire weather risk this weekend on the Alabama side — Auburn, Opelika, Tuskegee and LaFayette included — because fuels are dry and the wind is up. On the Georgia side, Peachtree City notes that the easterly flow is drawing just enough moisture back in off the Atlantic to keep humidity above critical thresholds around Columbus, Hamilton and LaGrange. Either way, be deliberate with any outdoor burning.
Temperatures stay close to where late October belongs, then climb. Columbus reaches about 75 today against a normal high of 76, then 77 Monday, 79 Tuesday, 78 Wednesday, 79 Thursday and 82 on Friday. For scale, the record high for October 25 in Columbus is 90, set in 1984.
Late in the week, a trough developing over the Plains could finally open the door to rain chances in early November, though forecasters say that outcome is still uncertain. If you have been waiting to stain a deck in Phenix City or wash the truck in Opelika, this is the week.
