What is the weather on Lake Eufaula and West Point Lake Sunday?
Sunday is sunny with no rain on all three lakes, starting at 46 at West Point Lake and 51 at Lake Eufaula and warming to 68 and 74 by 2 p.m., with wind near 10 mph.

The smoothest water Sunday morning will be at West Point Lake. At 8 a.m. the wind there is forecast at only about 5 mph, the lightest on any of the three big lakes, under a sunny sky. It is also the coldest start, 46 degrees, so whoever backs the trailer down first should expect to see their breath.
None of the three lakes has a rain chance Sunday, and none has wind that would trouble a small boat. Here is how the day runs.
At West Point Lake, between LaGrange and West Point, it is 46 and nearly calm at 8 a.m., warming to 68 by 2 p.m. with the breeze up to about 10 mph. Sunny from first light to last.
Lake Harding, north of Columbus on the Georgia-Alabama line, begins at 48 with a 10 mph breeze and climbs to 70 by mid-afternoon, wind holding steady near 10. A dock on the Harris County side will feel pleasant by lunchtime and still cool in the shade.
Lake Eufaula is the warm one at both ends of the day: 51 at 8 a.m. and 74 by 2 p.m., with wind around 10 mph and sun the whole time. If you want the afternoon that feels most like summer's last call, it is down there.
The wind is out of the northeast, pushed along by high pressure wedged down the eastern seaboard. Forecasters at Peachtree City expect it to ease overnight and pick back up Sunday. Sustained speeds near 10 mph are comfortable for a john boat, but a gust always runs harder than the steady wind, so leave yourself room coming into a dock on an open stretch.
The river feeding all of this is running about where late October usually finds it. Over the seven days through October 23, the Chattahoochee River in Columbus averaged 1,893 cubic feet per second at the 14th Street gauge, against a normal of 2,803 for those dates — inside the normal range for the time of year. The Chattahoochee River at West Point averaged 2,291 against a normal of 2,829, and below Lake Eufaula, near Columbia, Alabama, the river averaged 4,604 against 4,984. Upatoi Creek near Columbus came in at 134 against a normal of 152. Those are week-long averages on purpose. The dams release in pulses to make power, so any single reading can swing from a third of normal to double within a day and tell you nothing.
Two practical notes. The air is dry right now, with the dew point around 46 while the temperature sits in the mid 50s, so the morning will feel crisp rather than clammy and the chill will come off quickly once the sun is up. And do not let the cool start fool you about the sun: the UV index tops out near 5 today, and the light bouncing off open water doubles down on your face and the backs of your hands.
Sunset comes at 6:55, and this time of year the light goes in a hurry once it starts. Dress in layers you can peel at 10 a.m., and put the jacket back on before you load up.
Each day, 8 AM → 2 PM.
Forecast: National Weather Service, at each place. Wind and rain are the highest of the readings shown.
