Is the wind calm on Lake Eufaula and West Point Lake this weekend?
Yes, wind stays around 5 mph or less today at Lake Eufaula, West Point Lake near LaGrange and Lake Harding north of Columbus, with sunshine and no meaningful rain chance.

If you have a small boat and a Sunday free, this is the kind of day you hope for. At all three of the big lakes in the viewing area, the wind never gets above about 5 mph from early morning through midafternoon. Nothing today comes close to the 15 mph mark where a light boat starts taking a beating and casting becomes work.
At West Point Lake, between LaGrange and West Point, the water is the coolest and the calmest place to start. It is 56 degrees at 8 AM with the air essentially still and mostly sunny sky, warming to 78 degrees by 2 PM under full sun with a 5 mph breeze. With the dew point near 55 this morning, that 56-degree start puts the air within a degree or so of its condensation point, which is a plain way of saying everything left out overnight will be soaked. Wipe down the seats before you sit on them.
Lake Harding, north of Columbus on the Georgia-Alabama line, runs a couple of degrees warmer: 58 degrees and sunny at 8 AM with a 5 mph breeze, then 79 degrees at 2 PM, still sunny and still around 5 mph. Rain chance is zero at both ends of the day.
Down at Lake Eufaula, the morning is the mildest of the three at 62 degrees, calm and sunny at 8 AM, and the afternoon the warmest at 82 degrees with a 5 mph breeze. The rain chance there is listed at 1 percent, which is the forecast's way of saying no.
As for how much water is moving, the U.S. Geological Survey gauges tell a steadier story than any single reading would. The dams at West Point, Columbus and Eufaula release in pulses to make electricity, so the flow at any one moment can swing from a third of normal to double within a day. Averaged over the past seven days, the Chattahoochee River at West Point ran 3,074 cubic feet per second against a normal of 3,003 for these dates. The Chattahoochee River in Columbus averaged 3,309 against a normal of 2,840. Below Lake Eufaula, near Columbia, Alabama, the week averaged 3,950 against a normal of 4,734. All three sit inside the normal range for late September.
The outlier is Upatoi Creek near Columbus, which has no dam on it and so answers only to rainfall. It averaged 115 cubic feet per second over the week against a normal of 147, or about 78 percent, which is genuinely below normal. That fits the rain ledger at the Columbus airport: 2.40 inches so far in September, about half an inch behind the normal 2.86, even though the year as a whole stands at 40.30 inches, roughly three and a half inches ahead of normal.
What to take: a sweatshirt for the first two hours, because 56 degrees on open water with any boat speed feels colder than 56 degrees on the dock, and sunscreen for the rest of it. The ultraviolet index reaches about 7 this afternoon, and the water reflects a good share of it straight back up at you.
